We aim to develop agility, physical co-ordination, fitness, confidence and enjoyment through PE lessons. The school is able to use the playground, the school garden, the village hall and Church grounds for its PE sessions. In addition, especially in the summer months, athletics, rounders and sports day are enjoyed on the village recreation ground.
Key Stage 2 children go swimming at Heywood Leisure Centre, Cinderford, during the Spring Term. Reception and Key Stage 1 children go during the Summer Term. We opt for fortnightly one hour lessons to ensure a good period of time in the pool.
Children from Reception to Year 3 enjoy a Forest School afternoon every week, encouraging outdoor learning and physical exercise. There is an opportunity to learn all about nature in-situ.
Children in years 2 – 6 attend the Forest of Dean Gymnastics Centre for 6 weeks during the Autumn Term. This is part of our commitment to providing a range of sports to all and giving children the opportunity to find the thing that allows them to flourish.
The school is in receipt of funding from the Government as part of a National Strategy. The proposed way of spending this is outlined in the document below. This is a working document so will change during the year.
A review of spending for 2019-20 can be found below:

Our Swimming Teacher has assessed our seven year 6 children to see if they meet the national curriculum requirement to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, using a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situation. 100% of the children meet these requirements.
