Head’s Blog – 23rd April
What beautiful weather we have had as we have all returned to school. As I have said in my newsletter, it has been great for the children to even get outside to play in the garden. The view from our garden is so beautiful and the church in the sunshine looks wonderful. We cannot wait until all of the children are able to play together and celebrate together. Oak class have been making the most of the garden and have used it as part of their learning to observe changes in plants as well as looking at nests. This week as part of their welly walk they created their own nests.
As we enter this new term KS2 have started our new topic where the focus is on Japan. We will all learn about volcanoes, Hokusai’s art work as well as looking at the Olympics as we are hoping that this will actually happen this year even if it is without spectators. As we like to start all of our topics with an inspirational adventure and we couldn’t go to Japan then we brought a little bit of Japan to us. My friend, Naoko, came and told us about Japanese culture and what hers and her daughters life was like when they lived in Japan. She even came in a Kimono as well as teaching us to count to 6 and giving us the chance to try out some of the morning exercises that children in Japan do at 6:30 a.m. We were all inspired and Paige in year 4 went home and did some Japanese writing which she shared with us today. It was fabulous. Thank you Naoko.
