Head’s Blog – 30th September 2022

Autumn has well and truly arrived as the air turns colder and the rain comes in, just as we go on our Y5/6 residential and have our KS2 Sports Day! Oh well, the children have had a fabulous time despite the weather! They worked together as a team, showed resilience and never ceased to surprise us. We have lots of photographs but here is a sample of what they got up to!

As you are probably aware, learning at Clearwell is as on hands-on as possible. We believe that children learn best whilst doing. In KS1 they have been smoothie tasting in Design Technology.  There were three to try and they had to guess the ingredients before the ‘big reveal’.  They also described the smell and appearance, before deciding on a favourite.  They then designed packaging for their favourite one.

KS2 have been investigating Soils and Rocks in years 3 and 4 and Habitats and living things in years 5 and 6.

As Sports Day was cancelled due to the heat wave, which seems like a life time ago now, we took the opportunity this week to do a KS2 one this week. The weather held off and actually looks glorious in the photographs! Jake from Pro Stars took the lead and has sent me the scores…

1st Wyndham – 123 points
2nd Joce – 105 points
3rd Dunraven – 94 points

We will organise for medals to be distributed in Celebration Worship next week.
