Head’s Blog – 13th July 2018

What a week we have had. Sports day was fabulous, thank you all for supporting the event. We had lovely feedback from parents about it, especially that we included field events which gave children an alternative opportunity to shine. We will able to have more diversity next year. Thank you to Friends who sold refreshments to raise funds for school. Just a reminder that Friends contributed £400 to our trip to the British Museum so we really appreciate all they do. Their next event will be a school disco on 20th July.

The Garden Party

A huge thank you to Governors, parents and staff who helped organise, set up and run the Garden Party. I was absolutely blown away with the effort put in to the event. Our garden looked amazing, there was a huge range of cakes and more raffle prizes that I could have wished for. Thank you all so much for supporting Clearwell, for a small school the involvement from the community is overwhelming. Thank you to Mrs Lamb who volunteers at Clearwell and worked tirelessly with KS1 to put together their performance which was entertaining. They were very excited which resulted in them being a little too noisy when KS2 were reading their writing. I know, from feedback on the cards, that a couple of people were disappointed by this. I do apologise and we will learn from this for next year. I have sent all of the poems home with the children so hopefully they will give you a private performance in the quiet. I am proud of them all for reading their independent writing out loud with enthusiasm and decorum in the face of lots of distractions. It just shows how wonderful our children are. I am investigating a new sound system for future events. We live and learn.

However, despite this complaint, the other feedback was all extremely positive, saying what a lovely event it was, how beautiful the was and how lovely school is looking. Overall, it was a great success. We also raised £225 in the raffle which will go into school funds to provide additional resources for the children. I am one very proud Headteacher.
